Yaz Lawsuit Background Information

In 2011, the FDA announced that women who used Yaz, or Yasmin, were 74% more likely to experience a blood clot compared to women who were using other birth control pills.

After the FDA investigation, they concluded that women are thought to be three times more likely to develop a blood clot after taking Yaz than other lower estrogen forms of contraception. The Food & Drug Administration has demanded Bayer to package Yaz and Yasmin contraceptives with a much stronger label warning of the increased risk of blood clots.

More than 12,000 Yasmin and Yaz lawsuits have been filed against the drugs' maker, Bayer. Thousands of lawsuits have settled while thousands are still pending. Bayer still does not admit their failure to properly warn women about the blood clot and pulmonary risks associated with taking Yaz and Yasmin.

Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits have been consolidated into a multi-district litigation, which is being heard in the Southern-district of Illinois. It is a postive thing that most, if not all, of the women that have suffered a blood clot or pulmonary related injuries are recieving financial compensation from Bayer.

*Yaz settlements that are being awarded are averaging between $150,000 and $300,000 to the women who have suffered an injury after taking Yaz or Yasmin and have filed their own lawsuit against Bayer.

Yaz Side Effects, Complications, & Injuries

Yaz is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of PMS.

Yaz and Yasmin are not only used as a birth control, but were also approved to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a condition in which a woman experiences severe depression symptoms, irritability and tension prior to menstruation. PMDD is different from premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which is characterized by a wide range of physical or emotional symptoms five to 11 days prior to the onset of menstruation. PMS symptoms typically stop once a woman's period begins.

In addition to preventing pregnancy and treating the symptoms of PMDD, Yaz and Yasmin is also approved for the treatment of moderate acne in women age 14 and over.

Majority of the complaints against Bayer allege that the manufacturer of Yaz and Yasmin "Failed to Warn" women of the risks associated with taking Yaz and Yasmin.

If you took Yaz or Yazmin and suffered a blood clot reltated injury such as a DVT, a pulmonary emoblism, a stroke or other blood clot related injury it's not too late to file a Yaz Lawsuit or Yazmin Lawsuit to be compensated for your medical bills, pain and suffering and other loses.
